Can I really make money online?

This is really the first question you should be asking.  If you're new to this business or have just started and haven't gotten results from your efforts, I have to ask you "What kind of money are you interested in making?"  I can guess you have seen some of the scam headlines stating "Buy this system and you can make $20,000.00 per month."  I just can't stand this sort of stuff. It really gives this business a bad name. If two people were reading this right now, one person will go on to making hundreds of thousands of dollars per year and the other will make nothing. It is up to you. 

The amount of money that you can make with your business, (it is a business) is almost unlimited. Most of the marketers are small and many work out of their house or small office. On the other side, you have Amazon that has revenues of $15 billion a year and growing. One shoe company sells $800 million a year on line. There are one-person sharp marketers that have a staff of one or two that can easily have $2 million a year in revenues.

So, can you really make money online? The answer is yes and it is being done every day. You're sitting there thinking if I can only make maybe ...$5,000 a month I would be happy. That goal is easily attainable. If you treat this as a true business you will probably make much more. It is not unusual to get a RETURN ON THE INVESTMENT you have made in your business, (if you have avoided the scammers) back in the first month or two.

The industry is growing quickly but it is still one of the easiest businesses to start and the profit margins can be very high. It is a business and you will have to learn each step. If you get discouraged, remember, everybody starting out does to some degree. Truly the sky is the limit.

Now let's cover one more thing. The most important factor, and I can't stress this enough, in making money is YOU! That is correct. You see, no one can make you take action. So many people fail right here. They may become overwhelmed, experience self doubt, feel it is to difficult, not experienced, etc....

Remember no one had any real experience in this business 10 years ago. Just think how hard it was for them. They didn't have all this information just a click away. Thousands have become wealthy in the industry because of one reason only. They didn't give up. They didn't quit.

You now have the big secret of internet marketing wealth. Please don't sit there and say that's not the only reason. Think about it for a moment. The market for online goods and services is growing rapidly. You must sell quality products, your marketing doesn't have to be designed by professionals. The start up costs in terms of time and money are ridiculously low. The only reason you won't be making a good living online next year at this time is because of you.

The only one that can stop you from achieving your goal is you!

How long does it really take to start making Money?

This is a very difficult question to answer.  A simple and straight forward answer would be that depends.  That may not be what you wanted to hear but it is the truth.  You will see why in just a minute.

For example, what is your experience?  Are you a complete newbie or do you have some internet marketing experience?  Can you build a website? Do you know what Google.com/Analytics is?  Are you making some money at this point?  Making money to someone is $1,000 per month consistently and you might not think $1,000 per month is just starting to make money.

You see there is no way of knowing where you are at this point. Now if you have experience, the time frame will be less if you apply yourself.  A newbie starting out with the true desire and a good work ethic can actually make money faster than someone with lots of computer experience who just plays with all the tools when and if they get time. 

A true experienced internet marketer just did a test.  He built, from scratch, a fully functional website including ECommerce in four days.  It went live on the fifth day and started generating revenue.  This is truly the exception.  A retired 60 year old who knew literally nothing took 3 years to build a revenue of $100,000 per year.  By the way it was more money than he had ever earned during his working career.   

You see there is not a simple answer.  However, I believe you can answer the question or narrow the time frame down little. Please answer the 10 questions below. 

Grade yourself on your current knowledge.  On a piece of paper, grade yourself from 1 to 10 for each question.  1 being no knowledge and 10 being an expert.  Make sure you evaluate yourself fairly.  (it's important)

Add up your score.  The scores below will give some idea of the time frame to start making money.  (As long as you were honest)  Remember this is a business.  You will have to put in the time and effort or none of this applies.

85 to 100 = You're already an internet marketer and are making money.

65 to 84 = Great start, realistically you could be up and running in 60 to 90 days.

45 to 64 = Some knowledge, but a ways to go.  This score can go ether way.  Diligence and perseverance can allow you some revenue 60 to 120 days.

25 to 44 = A newbie, which is great because now you can learn the correct methods. Study one of the tools everyday and realize this is a new career for you.  120 to 150 days.

0 to 24 = Complete newbie, which also is OK.  Remember everyone in this business was a complete newbie about 10 years ago.  The great thing is you don't have to make all those mistakes and spend a fortune figuring this all out.  You're actually the most fun to watch because the improvement is so quick. I would expect a full 6 month learning curve.

Let's sum up.  Remember we are talking about a sustainable solid business.  One that consistently makes money month after month and year after year.  Yes you have seen the scams.  $20,000 next month!!!!  Stop! It's not the way it works.  This business is like building a house.  You need a solid foundation and then you can build your business to any income you want. 

 

What do I really need to learn to build my business?

The first and most important thing you must learn is to have a great attitude and perseverance.  If you don't, nothing I'm going to tell you will matter.  Starting and building a successful profitable internet marketing business takes time.  There is much to learn.  You can not give up or get bogged down or you lose.  Once you have mastered the first two items then you need the rest.

Products - Digital or Non Digital or both.  It doesn't matter what you sell/promote as long as you are in niches that have a large enough market.  Use google's keywords to search for the active large markets. Find the products (WorldWide Brands)

Website - Build your own website!  I will repeat that, build your own website.  It's no longer all that difficult.  You have to have control and functionality.  Stop your research on an HTML editor.  The best (WYSIWYG) editor is XSitePro.  The longer you wait to get it the more time you are wasting.

Web Hosting - You do not want to host your own website even if you have your own servers.  You can put yourself out of business over night.  You must understand and become familiar with hosting services.  There are a lot of them out there.  Some will sound cheap or free.  Are you going into business to promote and give your products and services away for free?  They can't either.  The good ones have there pluses and minuses.  Flat out, use the best it doesn't cost any more. GoDaddy.com Review the 10 Steps page and visit every link.  You will need all the tools.

What does it really cost to start an internet marketing business?

 It depends. The big guys may spend $100,000 and up to launch a site.  Those costs are webmasters, copywriters, domain names (they may register 20 or more domain names or bid or buy specific ones)  hosting, adwords, video production, etc.... 

Don't worry. You don't need to do all of that.  As we have said you can't use free junk because you need quality expandable tools to build a solid company.  You can't cheap this out.  However, it is not unreasonable to get all of the tools you need for between $1,000 and maybe $2,000 bucks. (If you haven't be scammed and bought junk)  The good news is if you have been scammed, you can write it off at the end of the year. 

Now we are talking about a basic entry level presence in your chosen market.  Will it make back your investment, you bet and then a lot more.  As you learn and earn you will re-invest in your business and yourself.

The other cost that needs to be factored in is your time.  How much time can you devote to your business?  Remember you have a learning curve to get through.  You will have to invest at least 10 hours a week to your business.  More is better, but at what cost?  Do you have a full time job?  What about a family and friends?  Do you have hobbies?  Do you volunteer your time?  Only you can put a price on this cost.

Well, now you know the costs to get started.  These are realistic costs. I know some scammers have told you all you need is $29.95 or $39.95 and you are in business following their business in a boxed template.  I told you the good news is that you can write off that learning experience at the end of the year.

What are the key factors for success?

This is actually a very easy question to answer.  In the internet marketing industry, there is only one factor for success.  That key factor is you and you only!!  Yes that is correct.  Only you can build the business.  All the marketing tools are here for you and waiting for you to make it happen. 

You can't fail or not build a solid profitable business.  This industry is growing like crazy.  Marketing tools and methods have evolved to almost a science.  If you want to make this a career you can, period.  The only thing that can stand in your way is you.  You are the key factor.  Really you are the only factor. 

OK don't even start to think that, well....what about market factors?  You know the economy sucks right now.  People are getting laid off right now.  Foreclosures are up and people are with out jobs, industries are closing, etc...... 

We are not going to get into economics 101 and debate a trade imbalance because none of that applies.  Internet marketing is a completely different animal.  You will eventually develop multiple streams of income from your business.  Again part of your job of running your business is to keep researching what people are buying and market that to them.  I don't care want the product is.  This industry allows us to develop multiple marketing strategies for different products and switch to new ones on a dime.  

Failure to start is the biggest reason you're not making money.

What type of  internet marketing business should I be in?

This is actually a great question.  But unfortunately there is no one right answer. We are going to suggest being an affiliate marketer.  Affiliate marketers don't need a product or service to get started.  You can simply go to Clickbank or WorldWide Brands and get started. 

Tons of people are marketing non digital products and making a fortune.  The draw back is, even though the manufacturers are pre-screened, the manufacturer or the shipper can still slip up once in a while. The product has to be shipped and human error can cause delays or no shipment at all.  This means that you have to have good support contacts to correct the problem and make your customer happy.  Now this is really a minor problem, but it happens.  Remember, the vast majority of the online eCommerce is physical products.

There are also tons of people marking digital products and making a fortune.  Digital products are easy to deliver, they are downloaded, and the customer gets the product within minutes.  You don't have shipping errors because human hands never touch it.  Now you will have customers who don't know how to download or just click off the download page.  But that is very easy to correct.  Basically you will have less problems in the fulfilment department.

So what is the answer? It really is simple.  Go research what is selling, lots of niche markets exist, find something you like and market those products. The following tools will be a great start.

Bingo!!! This is not rocket science.  Because of this fact we know you can succeed in this industry.  Now please understand..... the top marketers use very sophisticated tools and test and re-test everything.  They squeeze out more dollars per click than you can. 

You need to learn the basics and start making money.  If you don't make some money fairly quickly you may give up.  Giving up means failure and failure is not an option for you.  So once your internet business is on solid ground you can start to invest in those more sophisticated strategies.  Not now.
